Administrative Message #692 - Advertising reminders

August 6, 2017

I want to address some advertising issues that have been happening more and more of late. This is a reminder e-mail to those who advertise at my sites with upgrades or ad purchases.

PTP Rotator View Ads

PTP rotator view ads are for affiliate pages, referral links and personal sites. The only sites that are not allowed are ones that do not follow the normal advertising guidelines and Paid to Promote pages. These ads are displayed on the Paid to Promote's large rotating frame. Any PTP ads for this ad type are rejected and result in the loss of that upgraded ad for the month. If the ad was purchased via redemption, the funds are refunded back to the user's account.

English Only Please

Please be sure that the sites that are being submitted are written primarily in English. Sites submitted that are not in English are rejected and result in the loss of that ad for the month if it was an upgraded ad.

Banner sizes

For banner submissions, particularly for the Rotating Ad/Banner impression ad type, please be sure the banner image being used is 468x60 (pixels) or lower. I do try to edit the banner size if a banner larger than that is submitted, however this results in additional work for myself. Editing the banner size can result in image distortion depending on the size of the original image. Images larger than 468x60 can make the rest of my sites appear distorted and not display as coded.

One more banner issue...

Be sure that you are submitting a banner image wherever you see the Banner Location line. Submitting a PTP page in that line can cause the PTP at the site being advertised to become suspended. This is because the PTP page is trying to load in the very small banner image space. At each reload, another invalid hit is registered. This can easily result in several invalid hits before the user actually clicks on your advertisement.

At my sites, the PTP becomes automatically suspended once it has received less than 25% valid clicks in one day, however other owners have this number set much higher. Nine times out of ten, when someone reports that their PTP is suspended, it is due to accidentally submitting the PTP link in the banner address box.

Thank you for reading this. I am hopeful this reduces the amount of ads I have to reject or edit on a monthly basis.

Heather
